David Wallace has been in the design industry for over sixteen years, eight of those as a fashion designer. David designed private label for large North American labels while working in Montreal, he then returned to Vancouver to become the head menswear designer for international upscale label Obakki. His designs have been worn on the red carpets of the AMAs, Grammies, Junos and by celebrities as Jude Law, Sean Penn, Josh Duhamel and Tom Waits. David has now lived in Victoria for the last two years and owns a fashion boutique The Butchers Hook.
Marcie LeBlanc

Marcie graduated from the Blanche Macdonald Institute in 2005, receiving the overall achievement award in the Fashion Design Program. Shortly afterwards, she was invited back as a Teacher's Assistant for the Garment Construction, Patterning Making, and Fashion Awareness classes. Although Marcie truly enjoyed being an instructor, she wanted to get back to her designing.
So, in 2008 Marcie moved to Victoria to pursue her dream of opening her own fashion boutique to showcase her designs alongside other local designers together with international brands. She developed and manufactured multiple labels made in-house and launched her lines in fashion shows. Marcie still owns and operates LeBlanc Boutique, located on Johnson Street in Victoria. Her boutique features her Chloe & Audrey collection of customizable dresses and her White Closet Collection of one-of-a-kind leather purses and handmade jewelry. She is thrilled to share her knowledge and experiences at the Pacific Design Academy

Jonathan Brigdale, M.F.A

A Masters degree in Fine Arts from the University of Victoria, Jonathan brings the artists eye for colour and form to an enviable level of expertise with the most powerful computer graphics programs used in the design industry today. This unusual combination of technical mastery and artistic understanding makes him a considerable asset to our courses in graphic design. He has taught painting and life drawing at both the University of Victoria and the University of Saskatchewan. True to the ethos of our school Jonathan applies his real-world experiences for the benefit of his students, thus bridging the gap between the experimental atmosphere and the practicalities of industry.
Alexandra Morgan

Alexandra holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Fashion Design from Ryerson University and comes to PDA with over 15 years of experience in the Fashion Industry. Her professional work experience spans the areas of design, technical design, pattern-making, and fitting and encompasses the outerwear, children's wear, and women's contemporary fashion categories. On a constant quest for perfection, she found particular satisfaction on the technical side of the industry, enjoying the precision required for pattern-making, grading, and apparel specification.
Always keen to learn and adopt new technologies as it relates to fashion, Alexandra has training in several apparel CAD programs and is an avid user of Adobe Illustrator for technical illustration. In addition to teaching at PDA, Alexandra also owns and operates In-House Patterns, which produces and sells commercial sewing patterns for women's apparel.

Mollie Kaye sees a common thread between the many professional incarnations she's had in her life: illustrator, art director, product designer, business owner, puppeteer, ballroom dance instructor, mother, writer, life coach, and communication instructor - a passion for expression, creativity, and connection. Another of her passions is interdependence and community, and she is delighted to be part of the warm, family-like atmosphere of the Pacific Design Academy. As both an instructor (Effective Communication) and a supportive listener and mediator for the school's students, Mollie is enjoying the opportunity to foster understanding and compassion that she hopes will ripple out into the world far beyond this lovely old building on Wharf Street in Victoria.

Wendy joins PDA with over 20 years of experience in the Architectural field. Graduating with Honors in Architectural Technology from Algonquin College, Wendy went on to work in the small to medium size architectural & structural design office environment. In 1986 she relocated to work and travel in Australia. During this time she made the transition from technical architectural drawing to architectural illustration, fulfilling a longtime goal of uniting her knowledge of architecture with her love of art.
In 1993 she returned to Canada and spent 5 years working in the studio of R.L. McIlhargey and Associates in Vancouver as part of a team of illustrators, architects & designers involved in collaborating on projects such as the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Bid, the Portside Trade and Convention Centre & Cruise Ship Terminal Expansion Project, and the Vancouver International Airport Expansion Project. One high point of these 'heady' years was working with world acclaimed Canadian Architect , Arthur Erickson who has long been of significant inspiration to Wendy. Victoria is now home where Wendy continues her own practice in Architectural Illustration and joins the teaching staff at PDA. 'I'm excited to bring my love of architecture and drawing to the students at PDA.
Bruce Murray

Bruce is a carpenter and teacher with over twenty years experience in the local construction industry. He is a graduate of Simon Fraser University and the University of Victoria and is an ongoing student of Anthropology, History and Architecture.
Bruce has been variously a painter, drywaller, carpenter, cabinetmaker, construction foreman, superintendant, project manager and designer.
Bruce's interests include timber frame design, Japanese joinery, and alternative construction technologies.
As an educator, he has taught both in the private and public school systems. Bruce is an instructor in Construction Theory at PDA. He believes that students are stimulated to learn by the application of real world examples and multi-sensory presentations.
Ian Alexander

Ian was educated at the Cambridge Collage of Art and Technology in Cambridge, England and has worked for architects and large private development companies in Britain and Canada. In addition to teaching at PDA, he is self-employed, contracting to local building designers and architects.
He has a wide knowledge of building practice bolstered by many years of experience in the field. Ian is a warm teacher with a knack for conveying his knowledge to young and upcoming designers and building technologists.
Kyle Shick

Kyle joins PDA with 10 years of progressive experience in the Architectural field. After graduating from the Building Technology Diploma program at PDA, Kyle worked for a prominent local Architect and was involved with some of the capital region's more prominent construction projects (The CRD Headquarters, M.E.C, Point Hope Shipyards) and also began his studies in the RAIC syllabus program.
In 2007, after progressing to a senior level of professional experience, Kyle embarked on his current adventure as sole proprietor of a small CAD consultancy. He continues to be a part of projects developing on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland by providing a variety of specialized CAD services to local firms and clients. He is excited to convey his hands on experience.

Educated through the Alberta College of Art and Design, an experienced Project Manager, Art Director, and a Creative Director, Terrance brings his 20+ years of experience to the Pacifc Design Academy as the Graphic Design program department head.
Throughout his professional career, he has approached design with a focus on meeting business excellence while helping organizations meet their marketing goals. His experience in television, various advertising agencies, multi-media agencies like MCA Universal and Disney, internet marketing, animation, architectural, and general marketing have all been a part of his approach to graphic design for businesses.
He has won several awards for his work in advertising, marketing and architectural design however his most recent successes with a multi-million dollar corporation are some of the most valuable experiences he brings to the classroom.
Terrance also freelances and consults marketing strategies for various clients in his own studio.
Anthony Manning

Anthony has been working in the New Media Industry as a Multimedia Developer/ Programmer for over seven years. Anthony has also been involved in the teaching industry for seven years as a Multimedia Instructor at local private career colleges in Victoria BC. He has spent the last three years as a contractor growing his Multimedia Development company creating custom applications, CDROMs/ DVD, Web Graphic/Design, 3D Animation, Adobe Director programming, Flash programming and Animation. He is also the architect and curriculum developer of the 3D Animation and Video Game Design program.
Jennifer Forbes, B.A.

Jennifer has an honors degree in commercial art and over 15 years of graphic design experience. She has worked as an art director in the magazine publishing industry; as a graphic artist in the advertising department of a major newspaper; and as an art director in most aspects of the graphic design industry. Her experience in this field ranges from work for international agencies such as UNICEF to corporate clients in the real estate and tourism industries. She also enjoys the personal interaction of working with small companies and helping them develop corporate identities and marketing strategies. Jennifer enjoys sharing information and has been a part time instructor for over ten years. She also owns a small graphic Design Business here in Victoria.

Cathy Graduated from the Imperial College of Design in 1990 with a diploma in Interior Design. She brings to PDA her vast knowledge and experience in her chosen profession.
After numerous contracts since her graduation she has worked for Western Interior Design Group for over 10 years, specializing in hospitality and health care design. Cathy is responsible for design specifications as well as project management. Recently Cathy has worked on projects such as the Saanich Peninsula hospital, Mount St Mary‘s Hospital (a senior care facility) as well as the Westmark chain of hotels for Holland America Cruise Lines.

Michele Baker

London in the sixties is where Michele became interested in Fashion Design and Interior Design. She moved to Gloucestershire where she received her qualifications in Fine Art & Design and Interior Design at the Cheltenham College of Art and Design. She was then employed by Union Climate International Commercial Division of Architects and also Cotswold Development Company, Architects & Surveyors.
She moved to Canada in 1981 bringing her Interior Design Company with her. She decided to attend Fraser Valley University College, where she took Fashion Design in a two year program. Michele opened her own boutique, designing Lingerie under the label "Raffles", which was featured in Expo 86. She later manufactured and wholesaled Children's wear under the label "Top Flight", supplying her retail store and others
She moved to Victoria and re-established her Interior Design Company, where she has been practicing Interior Design for 27 years. She has been featured in the Boulevard Magazine and also has won a Silver award for Design.
Kristine Hageland

From her early passion for making inspiration journals of curated drawings and images torn from magazines, Kris's enthusiasm for simple yet effective interiors grew into a lifelong love for quality design and creativity. So, with a work ethic as strong as her smile is bright, she's a former alumni from Pacific Design Academy with a diploma in Interior Architectural Design.
She very quickly earned a reputation as the go-to gal for innovative and stylish design. In addition to her work as a freelance designer and CAD drafter with local architects, she has successfully built a strong reputation in the local design community.
Kristine is consistently trying to bring fun and fresh creative solutions to every project, infusing them with their own signature charm and using a clever eye for colour and balance. Calling Victoria home, when she's not designing, Kris can be found brunching, painting, blogging, and thinking how, deep down, she really wants to share everything possibly related to design with the people around her.

Ben Brannen

Ben Brannen is co-owner of Bespoke Design, a Victoria based design firm and home furnishings retailer. With over 20 years in the design industry, he has accumulated a wide base of knowledge to pass on to students. Ben has passed on his education and experience in design by teaching courses and volunteering on panels through Chinook Learning Services, Bow Valley College, and Mount Royal College.
Ben's background began in the paint industry, learning about colour and coatings technology along with additional knowledge in various decorative painting techniques. This opportunity led to an ownership in Maria Tomas, a home decor shop in Calgary where he introduced and managed the Farrow and Ball paint line.

Today, Ben is involved in the day to day business at Bespoke Design and is usually juggling multiple renovation jobs from Calgary to Phoenix to Victoria. "I believe in giving back the knowledge people have generously given me over the years by teaching courses when I get the chance".
